Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
DuraFlex Chimney Sweep in Fort Worth: What to Know First
DuraFlex chimney sweep in Fort Worth typically runs $189 – $329 for a standard cleaning and Level 1 inspection, with most jobs completed the same week you call. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider – not factory-affiliated – which means we diagnose what’s actually happening inside your flue and show you the photos before recommending anything. If you own a home in Fort Worth with a DuraFlex liner and you’re wondering whether it’s time for a sweep, this page covers what you need to know. Call (682) 900-6393 and a live person answers – day or night.
How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
DuraFlex makes a solid flexible liner, but every liner has failure points that show up during routine sweeps. Here’s what we actually find inside Fort Worth chimneys:
- Creosote glazing on the inner corrugations. DuraFlex’s 316L stainless alloy holds up well, but the ribbed interior catches creosote (the flammable tar residue from wood smoke) differently than smooth-wall liners. We regularly see stage-two glazing in Fort Worth fireplaces that burn oak and mesquite – the resin-heavy woods common in North Texas. Our fix is a mechanical sweep with poly brushes sized to the liner’s ID, followed by a camera pass to confirm the ridges are clean, not just the valleys.
- Tear damage at the tee connection from overly aggressive prior sweeps. This is one you won’t find on DuraFlex’s website. A wire brush with the wrong diameter – or a tech in a hurry – can catch the edge of the tee snout and tear the thin 316L wall. We see this on liners that were installed 8 – 12 years ago and swept annually by companies rushing through six jobs a day. We use poly brushes on DuraFlex, never steel, and we inspect the tee with a camera before and after every sweep.
- Soot accumulation at the appliance connector when the liner was sized wrong at install. DuraFlex liners come in specific diameters, and a liner that’s too large for the stove or insert connected to it slows draft velocity. Slower draft means more soot dropping out of suspension. In older Fort Worth homes near TCU where inserts were retrofitted into masonry fireplaces, we frequently find the connector pipe caked with soot even when the liner itself looks fine. Our sweep includes the connector, not just the liner.
- Moisture intrusion at the top plate from Fort Worth’s storm cycles. DuraFlex liners are watertight, but the top plate and storm collar are separate components. Fort Worth’s spring storm season and sudden temperature swings cause the collar’s silicone seal to crack and pull away. During a sweep, we check that seal. If water’s been getting behind the collar, we’ll show you the photo and quote the fix – it’s usually a $45 – $75 part and 20 minutes of work, vastly cheaper than replacing a rusted section of liner later.
- Delamination or pinholes in older DuraFlex AL series liners used for gas appliances. DuraFlex’s aluminum liners (often the AL series) are rated for gas only, and they degrade faster in Fort Worth’s humidity plus the acids in gas exhaust. During a sweep, we look for the white, chalky oxidation that signals the liner is nearing end of life. If we see pinholes, we’ll show you the camera footage and give you an honest replacement quote – we won’t tell you to replace it if it’s still safe to run.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Sweep Process
Here’s exactly what happens when you book a DuraFlex chimney sweep with us in Fort Worth:
- 1
You call, a person answers. We ask what kind of fireplace or stove you have, when you last swept it, and what you’ve noticed. That’s it – no pressure, no script.
- 2
We show up in a tracked window. You get a live arrival time, the kind of thing you expect from a rideshare. Our tech arrives in uniform, background-checked.
- 3
We inspect before we sweep. Level 1 inspection comes standard. We look at the firebox, damper, cap, crown, and we run a camera through the DuraFlex liner before touching it. You see those photos.
- 4
We sweep with the right tools. Poly brushes sized to your liner ID, not whatever’s on the truck. We clean the liner, tee, connector, and smoke chamber as applicable.
- 5
We camera it again and show you the photos. Clean liner, tee intact, no surprises. As Cory Mitchell puts it, “I’d rather show you a photo of the problem than hand you a bill you don’t understand.”
- 6
You get a written report and a written guarantee. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise – if it’s not done right, we make it right, with a free second visit if a repair fails.

FAQs
No. DuraFlex warranties cover manufacturing defects in the liner material, not routine maintenance like sweeping, and a properly performed sweep does not void the warranty. What can void a warranty is using steel brushes that scar the liner, or installing non-DuraFlex components that alter the system. We use poly brushes and DuraFlex-compatible parts, and we document everything with photos so there’s no question about what was done.
If you burn wood fires regularly in Fort Worth, sweep annually – ideally before the first cold snap in October or November. If you burn mesquite or oak (common in North Texas), you’re producing more creosote than homeowners burning softwoods elsewhere. Gas-only DuraFlex aluminum liners should be inspected annually but swept less frequently, usually every 2 – 3 years unless we see soot buildup. Call (682) 900-6393 and we’ll tell you honestly where you stand.
Yes. During a Level 1 or Level 2 inspection, our camera shows us the liner wall inside and out. Cracks, through-wall pinholes, or severe corrosion mean replacement is the honest recommendation. If we tell you the liner is fine and just needs a sweep, we’ll show you the photos that prove it. We don’t sell liners – we show evidence.
We use DuraFlex-compatible components that match your liner’s material and diameter, and we source from trusted trade suppliers. For a tee replacement or top plate, the material grade matters more than the brand stamp – 316L stainless for wood, AL for gas – and we’ll show you exactly what we’re installing and why.
Most DuraFlex sweeps in Fort Worth are booked within 3 – 5 business days. During October and November, the schedule fills fast – that’s when everyone fires up the fireplace they haven’t touched since last winter. Call (682) 900-6393 and we’ll get you on the board, with a live arrival time on the day of the job.
